Before your appointment:
you will have to avoid prolonged sun exposure to the treatment areas for 4 weeks before and after Lumecca, as to avoid tissue injury. Also stop all retinol products for at least one week prior to treatment and several weeks following.
During the visit:
Your skin type will be carefully evaluated by your provider, and the treatment, once started, takes about 30 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. There is a clear gel applied to the face to facilitate adequate transmission of light to the skin. There is minimal discomfort during each delivered light pulse.
After your treatment:
expect the pigmented or discolorated areas to be a little darker for a few days following treatment. There may even be some scab or peeling of the area as your body expels the pigment skin cells.
