Lumecca is a photo-facial that delivers prescribed amounts of light pulses deep into the skin, to essentially break up dense damaged colored pigment cells, and raise them to the skin surface for ultimate removal. Notice a difference in just one session, but full effect is best seen in a series of 3 for most people. Common treatment areas include face, neck, décolletage, hands and arms. It can be used for sun damage, rosacea and pigmented scars. It will also tighten and brighten the face. The heat will help reduce active acne by killing the bacteria on the surface of the skin and below it.

Before your appointment:

you will have to avoid prolonged sun exposure to the treatment areas for 4 weeks before and after Lumecca, as to avoid tissue injury. Also stop all retinol products for at least one week prior to treatment and several weeks following.

During the visit:

Your skin type will be carefully evaluated by your provider, and the treatment, once started, takes about 30 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. There is a clear gel applied to the face to facilitate adequate transmission of light to the skin. There is minimal discomfort during each delivered light pulse.

After your treatment:

expect the pigmented or discolorated areas to be a little darker for a few days following treatment. There may even be some scab or peeling of the area as your body expels the pigment skin cells. It is vital to avoid direct sun in this time for ultimate results. After 10-14 days you can see notable changes in your overall complexion and tone. Use Alastin A-Luminate Serum twice daily.
